The most important 650 words your student will ever write.

Personalized essay coaching that helps your student figure out what to say, how to say it, and get into the colleges they want.

For more than 10 years, Wagner Prep students have been admitted to Ivy+ universities like Dartmouth and UChicago, super publics like UMich and UNC, and competitive privates like Duke, Wesleyan, Tulane, Brandeis, St. Andrews, and dozens more.

The school list is done. The application is open. And now your student is staring at a blank document, trying to write something that sounds like them but also somehow sounds like the best version of them, yet is also totally unique and creative, for an audience they've never met, on a deadline they can't move.

Most high school counselors want to help. They also have hundreds of students to support. By the time October arrives, getting thirty minutes of focused feedback on a personal statement is a win. Supplemental essays for eight or ten schools? That falls on the student and the family.

Generic feedback makes it worse. "Be more specific." "This doesn't sound like you." "Why do you want to go here?" Without someone who knows the student, knows the schools, and can actually sit down with you to help you do the work, those notes don't translate into a better essay. They just create more drafts that still miss.

For a student applying to competitive schools, especially one whose test score isn't their strongest card, the personal statement may be the most important thing in the application. Admissions readers spend a few minutes with a file. An essay that lands can change how they read everything else.

The essays are the part most families underestimate.

"Wagner Prep helped me develop the story and narrative of my Common App essay while also teaching me incredibly helpful writing skills."

This is for families of rising seniors who:

Have a school list and are ready to focus on making the application as strong as it can be

Know their student has a real story to tell but aren't sure how to get it on the page

Want every essay to sound like their student wrote it, not a ghostwriter or AI

Aren't sure what to write about and don't want to spend the summer figuring that out alone

The families who get the most out of this are the ones with students ready to do the work. We brainstorm. Your student writes. We ask the deeper questions and make suggestions. Your student reflects and edits. All the while, the writing gets better, more authentic, more personal.

For most students, something else happens along the way. The process of working through draft after draft with someone asking the right questions makes them a better writer, and that carries forward well past the application.

Common Questions

"WagnerPrep has been extremely helpful in enabling me to turn my creative ideas into words throughout the college process, a task that I am often challenged with. I was able to make sure I was submitting my best work and sharing various parts of my applications in different formats. Mike's help deciding what to write about for each prompt was also extremely helpful since sometimes I was unsure about what I wanted to discuss."

— Jhanvi G., Wagner Prep College Advising Family

"He is extremely talented and could turn my most basic writing into an intriguing essay. He stuck with me through my mental blocks and helped me break down my ideas to focus on the most important parts. Without him, most of my applications would be lacking the driving factors that colleges are searching for."

— Claire L., Wagner Prep College Advising Family

"His creativity and attention to detail not only helped create a beautiful college essay, but made my son a much better writer. My son ended up getting into his first choice, which seemed to be something unobtainable all thanks to the diligent and thoughtful work of Mike and his team."
