Junior year is when college gets real. A relative asks about schools. A friend already has a list. Someone's kid has been in test prep for six months. It's been on your radar for a while, but now it's actually here, and you're not sure where to start.
The process has changed since you went through it, and it doesn't come with a manual. Testing policies shift by the year. "Apply to college" sounds like one task, when it's really closer to thirty, spread across figuring out what your student wants, building the right college list for your student, and getting every application across the line. Most families are trying to manage all thirty at once, with no real sense of what matters most or when.

The Plan
Our advising process breaks it into three manageable stages, so students land at a great school that's the right fit, one they're excited to attend and built to thrive in.
Explore
Your student figures out what they actually want, not what a friend is doing or a school they saw on TikTok. We walk through how school types and programs actually differ, sort out what matters most to your family (location, size, cost, environment), and help your student strengthen their extracurriculars and interests by filling gaps and building depth where it'll matter most.
Evaluate
We build the list, likely, target, and reach, with an early decision strategy that gives your student a real shot at their top choice. We also figure out how your student's interests and activities connect into a thread that actually lands at each school on the list, and we stress-test the whole list against financial fit and merit aid opportunities.
Execute
Your advisor coaches every draft of every essay, for every school, from first brainstorm to final submission. We also manage the whole timeline: what's due, what's next, what can wait, so nothing gets lost in the busyness of senior year. And once applications are in, we stay through interviews, waitlist strategy, and decision day.
What Advising Looks Like for Parents
You get an expert partner in a process that changes every year and varies from school to school. We've guided hundreds of students through it and know exactly where the pressure points show up, and how to manage them before they become a problem. Whatever the question, from application criteria to merit aid negotiations and everything in between, you have someone to ask who knows your student, your family, and what actually matters to you.
We remind your student of approaching deadlines and ask "have you written the essay yet?" so you get to cheer them on instead of nagging them.
You'll get a report after every session so you know exactly where your student stands, no guessing, no cornering them at dinner. Your advisor is also a phone call or email away throughout the process.

It depends on the stage. During Explore, students typically meet with an advisor once every two weeks. Meetings pick up as we move into the Evaluate stage at the end of Junior year. By the time we reach Execute during the summer before Senior year, students and their advisor are in touch multiple times a week, both live and asynchronously through essay coaching and application work. For families starting senior year, we begin at that faster pace right away.

Most families begin the summer before junior year. This timing gives students space to explore majors, plan meaningful summer experiences, and complete much of their writing before senior year becomes busy.
Some students start earlier, especially if they want help with long-term planning, course selection, or building a strong extracurricular and summer strategy.
Others begin during the summer before senior year or even once senior year has started.
Many of our students have demanding schedules. For example, competitive athletes, dancers, and performers often have limited summer availability, and starting earlier simply gives them more breathing room.
The truth is that every student is different. The best time to begin is when your family is ready, and we can support students at any stage. Whether your student is planning ahead or beginning later in the process, we help them move forward with clarity, organization, and steady support.

We intentionally do not specialize in only one field. Students grow and change throughout high school, and their ideas about majors, programs, and career paths often shift. Our broad experience allows us to guide students who are exploring multiple directions, narrowing their interests, or applying to a mix of programs.

We are built for that. We act as the project manager for the admissions process and keep students on track with clear timelines, structured priorities, and steady support. Parents stay informed without needing to step in or micromanage.

Within twenty-four hours of every session, families receive a session report that outlines the tasks completed, important next steps, and big picture thoughts. You always know exactly where your student stands and what comes next. Your college advisor is also checking in regularly via email, text, and/or phone calls to stay in alignment with family goals.

No, this program is all about researching and applying to college, not test prep itself. What you'll get is a clear sense of when testing should start for your student.
